In July a HGV driver was jailed for three and a half year for colliding with a vehicles whilst he was using his mobile phone. a van had broken down in lane one of the A27 dual carriageway.
All of the three occupants in the van sustained injuries. the driver had 42 accounts of ‘poor driving’ during his four hour drive before the Collison.
These included, not wearing a seatbelt persistent use of a mobile phone, and taking both his hands off the wheel to peel a banana.
See the footage below- the company that employed the driver had installed cameras in the HGV.
This proves how quickly an accident can happen when the drivers are distracted.
