About Us

Operator Licence & Maintenance Consultants (OLMC) is a long-established, family-run transport consultancy firm that began as OLMC Ltd in 2002 before expanding into OLMC Group.

The Traffic Commissioners of Great Britain have issued a document “A guide to instructing Transport Consultants” which we encourage all operators to review (link below)

OLMC exceed the expectation of the Traffic Commissioners of Great Britain Consultant Guidance document, our staff possess vast experience in operator licencing, some with up to 17 years of experience in the sector, our company Director has been involved with Heavy Goods Vehicles in the commercial sector for over 40 years and OLMC Senior Managers are qualified Transport Managers, holding Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Transport Haulage.

Our team is highly professional, operates with integrity, and consistently acts impartially in the best interest of the operators and our clients.

OLMC Group is proud to hold ISO 9001 accreditation, with senior managers qualified as ISO-certified auditors.

Additionally, OLMC Group is an authorised audit provider under the DVSA Earned Recognition scheme, with Senior Managers recognised as authorised audit professionals.

We are also approved by the DVSA to deliver training for the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC).

As dedicated members of the Road Haulage Association (RHA), we remain committed to the highest standards in the industry.

All OLMC team members undergo regular training, attend refresher courses, and receive updates from the Traffic Commissioners, DVSA, and industry bodies such as the RHA, Heavy Transport Association, TFL, and MET Policing Commercial Vehicle Unit.

We are committed to staying up to date with the latest developments in operator licence compliance and tracking industry trends. To help monitor future strategies in both compliance and the industry, we regularly attend events and expert webinars featuring key guest speakers who offer valuable insights into the future of our sector.

OLMC actively seeks, encourages, and requests client feedback. All clients receive a feedback request, and in the rare event that an operator is not fully satisfied with the service, OLMC has a well-documented and robust complaint procedure in place.

We are often approached by operators seeking representation at Public Inquiries, where they risk regulatory action, the potential loss of their Operator’s licence, and the impact on their Directors, Sole Trader entity or Transport Manager’s repute. OLMC understands that this area requires significant legal expertise, which goes beyond the scope of Consultancy. To help prevent future issues, we provide proven systems and processes that can be integrated into and operator organisation, and we work closely with experienced Transport Law Solicitors to prepare documents, ensuring the best possible outcome for the operator at an inquiry.

The Office of the Traffic Commissioners recently announced that they will now only accept digital documents, marking a significant move towards paperless systems in the industry.

This move was envisaged several years ago when OLMC enlisted digital experts in 2020 to create a bespoke IT solution to help operators transition to a paperless compliance management system. The result, OLMC-e Compliance, was launched in 2022, tailored to meet specific requirements for effectively managing operator licence compliance for vehicles and drivers. To ensure full compliance, all records are carefully reviewed by trained OLMC staff before being uploaded to the OLMC-e platform. This system provides operators with secure access to fleet management tools while storing documents as digital records in accordance with DVSA and Traffic Commissioner standards.
